Alexis (Lexi) D. Gordon

Hello! I am a PhD Candidate in Decision Processes at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. 

My research investigates barriers to successful workplace communication. I examine common forms of workplace communication, including advice, gossip, and excuses. My primary stream of research investigates advice, focusing on situations where people fail to receive high-quality recommendations. I use a mix of experiments and field data—including workplace emails and Reddit posts—to uncover when and why communication breaks down and identify strategies for fostering more effective conversations in the workplace.
